The Monroe Art Guild recently honored member artists of the Georgia Gourd Society and hosted guests at the exhibit reception on Sunday, September 23 at 2:00pm. The event was a enlightening opportunity to explore the unique techniques of gourd sculpture and painting from a variety of artists (and a delight for young music makers).
Below, Artist Hudi shares how he discovered this massive, award-winning gourd at a gourd show in Tennessee, convinced the farmer to sell the gourd to him, then proceeded to conceive and produce this intricate southwestern design. Using pen and ink, acrylic paint and various sizes of knitting needle tips as his "paintbrush," he completed the piece in three months.
The Georgia Gourd Show is now showing through October 31, 2007.
