August Events!!!

SUE GRILLI (ART TALK)
The Monroe Art Guild is excited to have watercolorist Sue Grilli as our August Art Talk guest speaker. Mrs. Grilli's presentation is titled, "Travels in Watercolor" and will talk of her experiences traveling and transferring those images into watercolor art works.
Three of her watercolor pieces are featured in the current Summer Members' Show. Mrs. Grilli was a co-artist featured on the cover of the 2009 Tour of Homes.
Mrs. Grilli is a member of the Georgia Watercolor Society and the Monroe Art Guild. She has also served as Treasurer for the Atlanta Artists Center. She has carried her easel to Italy, Australia and the Caribbean and to her beach house on Navarre Island, Florida. Painting on location has expanded her artistic appreciation and has helped her establish her personal style. Whether a field stone cabin in the mountains or a pelican soaring over the Gulf Coast, Mrs. Grilli's soft manner emanates on the canvas with translucent vividness. She plans to continue producing colorful designs that appeal to the eye and the visions of the soul.
FIRST FRIDAY FUNDRAISERS
During the months of May through September, the Monroe Art Guild is raising not only funds but an awareness about us being a resource open to the community. So on the same nights as the Friday night concerts which take place in front of the historic courthouse in downtown Monroe, we will be open until 7pm selling donated art from Members artists. In addition we will have three raffles offered serving as the fund-raising part. The first raffle was a painting done by Susan Pelham, won by Robert Peters; the second is a painting by Bobbie Austin. Tickets for Bobbie Austin's art pieces started selling on July 3 and will end September 3, 2010 with the winner being announced at half-time during the concert.

We are hoping to promote the Monroe Art Guild as a place to visit along with putting work by artists in the public viewing outside of the gallery space. Ticket prices will be generously priced at 1 ticket for $5 and 5 tickets for $20. Each raffle has a value of approximately $400. So don't miss out on this chance to win an original piece of art!

Member artists are encouraged to donate a piece or pieces to be used for First Friday Fundraisers, and pieces not sold will be used in the Silent Auction planned for December during the Tour of Homes.
